Dear Friends in Christ:
We have been amazed with the tributes that have come from around the
world for Dr. John Stott, Honorary Chairman of The Lausanne Movement,
since he went home to be with the Lord on 27 July 2011. We have a
growing sense of appreciation for all that he contributed to the work of
the gospel over the course of his lifetime. I have found it
particularly interesting to read how many of the articles written about
him make mention of his historic contribution to the global church
through his role as principal architect of The Lausanne Covenant
<http://www.lausanne.org/covenant>.
Around the world memorial services are being planned to honor “Uncle
John”, his significant contributions to the growth and health of the
church and his personal impact on the lives of so many people. A
growing list of memorial services is available on the John Stott
Memorial website (www.johnstottmemorial.org/events-updates/
<http://www.johnstottmemorial.org/events-updates/>).
We have had many requests from people who want to be able to watch the
video tribute to John Stott that was shown at Cape Town 2010. That
video is now available to view online here:

We encourage you to watch the video, share the link with others and use
it, via Internet link, in any memorial service you may be planning. As
you watch it, I am sure you will be moved once again as we all were at
the Lausanne Congress in Cape Town last October.
We trust that the services to honor John Stott and this video will
provide inspiration for a new generation of leaders around the world to
imitate his life of humility, integrity and simplicity for the glory of
God and for the advance of the gospel to the whole world.
Yours in Christ,
S. Douglas Birdsall
Executive Chair, The Lausanne Movement
